Question: I am 37, 15st, on eltroxin for the last year, started on 50mg, bloods came back within range, went down to 25mg bloods came back normal, now on 25mg one day `12.5 the next day bloods came back within stable range. I want to come off this I am suffering with horrendous anxiety and panic attacks in the last year, being told Eltroxin isn't causing it but I beg to differ. How do I go about stopping this?

Brief Answer:
please upload your all reports of thyroid tests, eltroxin can cause anxeity

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.

Anxiety and panic attacks can occur in hyperthyroid state rather than hypothyroid. Eltroxin is used to treat hypothyroid. It is possible that eltroxin can cause hyperthyroid. If your symptoms have started after starting eltroxin, it is likely cause. 12.5 mg is almost very low dose of eltroxin and you can stop it if thyroid level is normal.
For further assistance I need to check your all reports of thyroid (T3,T4, TSH) done during last year in relation to dose of the eltroxin you taking. Please upload or write the reports.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
