Brief Answer:
Please send in a picture of the red purple rash on your grandson upper lip

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Please send a picture of the red purple rash on your grandson's upper lip.

Please tell :
- what meds he is taking now?
- is he coughing apart running nose?
- what other symptoms is he having: fever? pain?

The rash could be herpes, avoid using hydrocortisone on the rash as it is located in the face.

Wish fast recovery.

He is on Amoxcillin and dimetap cough med. yes he has a cough, it was worse last week. But has improved, when he was first diagnosed with strep, he ran a high fever then. But not the last week. It doesn't seem to bother him.

Brief Answer:
Strep rash...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Thank you for providing the requested photos and information.

Now, I was going through the photos and noted the rash. There are 2 explanations for that:
1. Strep rash
2. Allergy reaction.

However, the rash goes more like a strep rash as he is not having any bothering from that.

Avoid using hydrocortisone if no itching. Instead, try to use an antibiotic ointment (e.g. bacitracin) locally. Keep good hygiene.
If difficulty in breathing will appear or rash will appear in other body parts, should go to ER as it could be related to allergy reaction (which is an emergency).

Wish fast recovery.
