No sexual activity went to Dominican Republic when I came home I noticed my penis to red and sore to the touch. I went to urologist and he took urine and blood which were all normal. He said it was balanitis and proscribed anti fungal cream used it for month or more but did not help so I went to dermatologist who said it was not fungal but contact dermatitis. He had me use hydocortsone oil and eucrine cream have been using this for a month with no results. I stopped using the cortsone cream and am using only the eucrine cream. It seemed to be getting. Better but it flared up again after using petroleum jelly I never had this before no other rashes or illness and haven't taken any oral medications. I do to have burning when urinating except for where the penis is sore. I am not circumsized

Brief Answer:
Possibility of sensitivity to Petroleum Jelly

Detailed Answer:
Hello My Dear

Thanks for the prompt reply and highly useful information provided with meticulous approach.

From the description, it seems that it is a case of hypersensitive skin (prone to irritation). This explains why the antifungals resulted in no improvement. Balanitis and dermatitis are closely similar terms that imply inflammation. whereas balanitis is used for the inflammation of this particular region, the term dermatitis is more generic in nature.

Now, If anyone were to present personally, this is what would I have suggested with high success rate;

1 High level of hygiene, no soaps, no disinfectants, not even eucerin.

2 Wash frequently with plain water and dry up

3 A clobetasone or Mometasone preparation once daily locally along with Levocetrizine tab 5 mg a day

4 It would help to take one tab of Fluconazole 150mg just once

5 Have urine and blood sugar tested once again if not already done.

Avoid anything that irritates skin. Pet jelly is a hydrocarbon product and has potential to irritate delicate genital skin.

Best wishes. stay in touch for help and to inform about your progress.
