Suggest Treatment For Postpartum Thyrotoxicosis
Question: Hi Dr. Rynne, 23 years ago I was diagnosed with postpartum thyrotoxicosis. I was treated for three years and it resolved. At that time I had a very fast HR.
2 years ago I started having irregular heart beats and had to go to ER. I was having excessive PVC's and they admitted me overnight. At that time my cardiologist says that all my tests are normal and that structrually I have a perfect heart. He prescribed propranalol 20 mg BID. However, I still feel it quite a lot.
I had routine blood work 7 days ago. It came back positive for hyperthyroidism and I am scheduled for scans, US, and was given atenalol for fast heart rate. My real problem is the arrythmia, flopping fish feeling, possible PVC's. Is atenalol or propranalol better for PVC's or feelings of arrythmia?
