doctor
Answered by Dr. Shanthi E (16 hours later)
Brief Answer:
yes, it is treatable

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Yes, polycystic disease is treatable. It is more often treated when it is symptomatic, and not otherwise.

There is both medical and surgical management for the same. The definitive treatment of renal poly cystic disease would be renal transplant.

Hope your query is answered.

Treatable with medication or surgery?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Shanthi E (12 hours later)
Brief Answer:
either ways

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

It is treated either ways with medicine and/or surgery.

If the cysts are big, they are surgically drained. As I said earlier, the definitive surgical treatment would be renal transplant.

Medical management is done initially and to relieve the symptoms. Drugs used are ACE inhibitors, Angiotensin II Receptor Antagonists, Antibiotics, and Phosphate Binders.

Let me know if you have further queries.

Take care!
