Question: My 17 year old neice has been having gi problems since last summer. She has lost 63 lbs...now weighs 163...she is vomiting and unable to eat anything but sips of fluid.she has u explained bruising on her arms and legs.she cant sleep at night for the nausea. She has been to emergency rooms and urgent care on numerous occassions but say that all lab results are normal and her ultrasounds and ct scans are normal. On one occassion her K was low ut probably from vomiting. Yesterday she informed her mother that she had a bowel movement that looked like it had orange strings in it. Her mother does run a business of dog walking and dog sitting as well as they have 2 dogs and 2 cats. Is it possible that she could have picked up a parasite.

Brief Answer: yes, psrasites are possible Detailed Answer: Hello. Thank you for the query. Yes, she could get a parasite. She may also have some stomach problems which are invisible in Ct like peptic ulcer. For sure something serious is happening as vomiting for so long time is not normal. She should definitelly visit a gastroenterologist. Stool test and gastroscopy should be done at first.Colonoscopy should be also considered. Please do not wait any longer with it. Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions. Regards
