Suggest Treatment For Persistent Diarrhea And Severe Sinus Infection
However, about 4 months ago, I started having diarrhea with every bowel movement. A blood and stool samples were done and negative on c-diff found. However, lactoferrin showed positive.
And, after Thanksgiving of 2015, I got a sinus and coughing infection that still lingers with me to this day. Don't know if there is a correlation to this and the constant diarrhea. Also, remember that this didn't start till about 4 months ago. ie. 10, 11 12, 2016.
What is going on and can it be cured?
Thank you so very much. XXXXXXX T.
the results are not diagnostic
since clostriudium difficile is not present in your stool, other causes have to considered. Lactoferrin means that white blood cells are present, which can be interpreted as inflammatory diarrhea. Inflammatory diarrhea can be caused not only by bacteria (I suppose you've done stool cultures) but also by other disorders like the inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), tumors, diverticulitis and exposure to radiation (for treatment of malignancies).
So in conclusion, more investigation is required. If the infectious causes can be excluded then a conolonoscopy may provide more help.
I hope you find my comments helpful!
