Question: Hi, I am 50 years old. Was in hospital when I was a baby with pneumonia. I grew up with four chain smokers. Our walls were brown. I don't smoke but yet I can't walk fast and talk. I get bronchitis a lot and takes weeks to recover. Could I have some permanent damage from childhood.

Brief Answer:
Very possible!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this growing up with chain smokers. Second hand smoke is equally harmful as those who smoke it. My suspicion is that this exposure which wasn't healthy and is probably contributing to your pulmonary problems. Report this to your doctors so that they can always factor in the risk and damage caused for this as they evaluate and treat you for multiple disease conditions, especially those related to the airways and heart.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.
