Question: I know I have had some vision changes within the past year. I am nearsighted and my bifocals are almost useless, I can see better without then. However; sometimes, when I wake up every things looks green or yellow, including people until my vision clears. I had heard in the past this could be due to meds, but what meds cause this? Thank you

Brief Answer:
You need to have fundoscopy for diabetic changes

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns.

Based on the history you have shared, regarding diabetes, it is quite possible due to changes in retina of the eyes due to diabetes.

It can present like floaters or changing colors or difficulty focusing. Simple test which can diagnose that is fundoscopy which can help the opthamoligist look into your eyes.

Regarding medications , yes it can be due to some, but I just want to know what all medications are you taking currently(names specifically) to help you better.

Also early changes for cataract can be seen. Meanwhile also look for taking supplements for Vitamin A and other B complex vitamins and use natural sources for carotene like carrots, eggs, liver, Dairy products and fish.

Also get examined for refractory errors.

Hoping you a speedy recovery.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Regards.

I worked night until July 2015, and Retiried at that time. But I noticed the vision changes before then. I would wake up in the middle of the day and every one on the TV would be green. This would eventually fade away and my vision would return to normal. I was also taking Bydureon at that time. When my insurance changed the Bydureon was too costly. I discussed this with my family physician and I now take the following meds: OTC Prilosec; and Vitam D including Nature Made supplements for Diabetes. Rx: Pravastatin 10mg; Levothyroxin 100mcg; ASA 81mg; Valsartan/HCTZ 80-12.5mg; Glucophage 500mg tid; Glipizide ER 2.5mg. My Cholesterol is fine (all of my blood work is great) Pravastatin is for diabetes. Last A1C 6.4. (A work in progress). I have lost about 30# with Bydureon and retirement. But, the green in my vision stopped and now I am seeing Yellow. I have an appt to see my eye Dr in Feb. I know I have a small cataract in my left eye, but my right eye blurs and then clears. I thought maybe d/t overuse; however, when the Yellow in my vision started I became concerned. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
It can be due to diabetes or eye conditions

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Sorry for catching up a little late.
Thanks for sharing all the details and drug history.

Based on those details, your HbA1C values are not that bad but stil diabetic complications if had ensued it can either persist or reverse very slowly.

Main aim is always to limit the damage caused by it. The drug that your insurance have stopped is for the control of diabetes and if your were getting benefit from that, there is a possibility that the suggesting physician also believed these color changes due to uncontrolled diabetes.

As far now, also get a review with an Ophthalmologist and get a detailed examination done.

As many primary eye diseases may cause these symptoms. Certain neurological conditions like Wernickes' Encephalopathy and multiple sclerosis may also cause but rarely so their work up may wait.

Meanwhile keep taking supplements for Vitamin A and B complex along with Folic acid and Vit. D3 and keep a strict check over blood sugars.

Hoping you a speedy recovery.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Regards.
