Suggest Treatment For Periodic Pain In Right Side Of Head

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Jan 2016
Question: I have been experiencing periodic pain on the right side of my head about 2" above right ear. Not acute but throbbing every 30 seconds or so, then goes away for 4-5 hours. This has been occurring for only the last 24 hours. I wouldn't be too concerned but I had a subdural hematoma 4 years ago and I am a little cautious as a result

Brief Answer:
Most likely primary headaches.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

According to your description of symptoms, seems to be a variant of primary headaches or ice-pick headache the cause of the symptoms.

However, since there is past history of treated subdural hematoma, there is need at least, for a neurological examination by your Neurologist or Neurosugeon, to exclude any more serious condition than a simple headache.

I assume that there are no other symptoms such confusion, limbs weakness or falling, slurred speech, if any of these symptoms be present, evaluation at the nearest medical facility is needed.

Don't get me wrong, personal opinion is that this is only a simple headache, but since this is a virtual evaluation, I can't be sure enough.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
