Suggest Treatment For Pain On Right Side Of Abdomen

default
Posted on Thu, 5 Mar 2015
Question: I have had Irittable bowel syndrome symptoms on and off for years and more recently some urine pain after going to the toilet. I have see a doctor who performed a dip test and said everything was clear but was going to send it away to be tested. I have had this random pain in my abdomen. It does not hurt by doing anything except when I touch the area and it is like a bruise feeling. It is located on the right side of my abdomen about 2 inches from my navel. I am wondering if these symptoms are all related to one another.

I did mention this to my doctor who seemed to ignore the abdominal problem and just said to drink more to help with the urine issue.

Today I have had random itching episodes on my head and arms not sure if this is related.

Brief Answer:
Please go for a liver function test

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir!

Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

I understand your concern.I do not think that your Irritable bowel syndrome is related to it.The location of your pain seems to be in position of your appendix.

I would suggest you to go for a liver function test and a whole abdominal ultrasonography because sometimes increase in bilirubin could cause itchy skin. Moreover this random abdominal pain could be due to gall bladder issues.

Your physician is right about drinking more water because this will be of great help for your liver and gall bladder.

Hope this helps.Feel free to ask more.

I had the dip stick done today the doctor said all that was clear and that included the bilirubin count i believe.

The itching seems to have calmed down a lot but still happens now and then.

I have taken.some pain killers which has helped the pain in the abdomen which feels like a bruise when pressed. Could this be a pulled muscle at all ?? The doctor seems to say the urine problem might be due to much acidic drinks i have but never seemed concerned by the pain i mentioned.

Is there any other symptoms of gallbladder problems i should look out for or notice??

I feel when sitting down as if where the problem in the abdomen is like a little pain now and then there.

Brief Answer:
Does not seem like a pulled muscle

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir!

Thank you so much for writing back!

It does not seem to me like pulled muscle.Good to know that itching has calmed down.Gall bladder symptoms generally are not that showy. It might be detected incidentally as a doctor performs physical examination.

You can go for an Ultrasonography abdomen to look for any gall bladder issues.Too much acidic drink is not going to help your body any way.Just drink regular water.

You might be suffering from gas problems for which you are getting such pains. Please take OTC esmoprazole empty stomach to get some relief.

Hope this helps.Feel free to ask more.

I am seeing a doctor in a few hours, the pain in the abdomen is there still and itching is more relaxed now, however I have found that there is a bruising feeling now in the rib cage area about 2 inches down from the armpit on the right hand side now which is new.

The odd feeling is the same issues I have on the right side is on the left side as well. Same location with the lower abdominal pain and ribcage pain is identical positions on each side of the body which seems so random.

I do feel sort of bloated but I am worrying like crazy thinking it is something extremely serious, my family has a history of gallbladder issues, mother and aunt both had them so this is what the problem now is with me.

Thanks for your advice so far I shall give more information after a visit to the local doctor.

I went to the doctor he did some checks by pressing on my stomach and he looked at the area I had the problem he feels it is a muscle tear as the area the pain is located in is not anywhere near the gallbladder.

The bilrubin levels are fine and he seems to think that my own mind is causing anxiety and I keep pressing down on the tender point and making it worse by bruising it myself.

The itching I forgot to mention but at the moment it is just there in the background around my scalp, face and arms and I am wondering if that is actually another symptom of the stress levels I have got or if he has not diagnosed me properly.

He did say to keep an eye on things and if nothing improves then to go back and see the doctors so at the moment I think my mind might have made things worse but the itching is damn annoying.

No yellow skin and no yellow in the eyes. Just the scalp and arms which is frustrating

Brief Answer:
good to hear you have normal bilirubin levels

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I am happy to hear that you do not have any issues with bilirubin.Talking about muscle tear, there are possibilities if you had a blunt trauma or lifted any heavy weight recently which caused muscle sprain. If this is the case,it will take time to cure.

For your itch problem, take antihistamine pill for a week to look for some relief.Change you shampoo or conditioner to a better one. This might be the cause too.

Hope this helps.
