Brief Answer:
tendinopathy

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for the question.
In the past we usually thought of this kind of a problem as a tendonitis, an inflammation of the tendon from overuse.
However, the more current thinking is that in over use syndromes what often happens is that the tendons get deprived of oxygen and become painful. This is called tendonopathy.
This sounds like what you may have. The treatments are antiinflammatory medications like ibuprofen, heat, ultrasound and physical therapy.
It is also important to rest those muscles and tendons so not playing tennis for a few weeks may also help greatly. If you are not willing to stop tennis briefly then cutting back significantly is advised.
Stretches or doing yoga once it is back to normal can possibly prevent recurrences of this problem
I wish you the best,

Brief Answer:
rotator cuff

Detailed Answer:
It sounds like you may have a tendonopathy in the tendons of the rotator cuff. The muscles of these tendons are the supraspinatus, infrspinatus, teres minor and subscapularis.
