Suggest Treatment For Pain In Ribs And Breathlessness

Question: I swallowed a pill and all the water went down but pill I choked on a little bit but coughed and it went down. Ever since I have been having pain from middle of throat down to in between my rib cage. I feel like im wheezing or struggling to breath some times and depending on how I sit it feels worse. If I spit out all my saliva instead of swallowing I get to a point where I feel pressure and want so badly to throw up. It feels as though something is moving from my rib cage to the middle of my throat but I cant get it out. This was on Saturday Night and it is now Thursday and still happening. I have seen an Urgent Care Dr who said I was fine, an ear nose and throat dr who said that I looked good but ordered a ballium or barium swallow. This came back as normal. I feel like at any moment I could just loose my breath and not get it back. I have been living on applesauce and liquids. Please help me! I should also note that whenever I drink liquid I feel a ton of pressure and then Ill force a burp out.

Brief Answer:
There is no cause for worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. If it has been almost a week since the choking episode, there is unlikely to be any major problem.

2. Hence assuming that you also had chest X-rays, a throat examination (videolaryngoscopy), chest auscultation in addition to the normal barium swallow, there is very little that can be missed, in this case an aspirated pill or some water.

3. Which brings us to the radiating, spasmodic pain, foreign body sensation, breathing discomfort and wheezing. I would recommend a reevaluation and medication to decrease the pain, acid reflux and wheezing.

4. Upload any images and test results that you have access to.

I hope that I have answered your queries. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
