Question: I have bad ear pain and swelling in the ear and it's tender to the touch and warm outside the ear I have been on antibiotics for six days and it's not helping

Thanks for posting the query

The symptoms described by you could be related to infection of the external ear (otitis externa or the swimmer's ear).

Antibiotics alone may not be sufficient enough to treat this problem. You would also require a short course of oral steroids with a local ear pack (containing steroids and antibiotics). A powerful anti-inflammatory medicine such as ibuprofen or diclofenac will be highly beneficial.

My other suggestions to you are:
1. Consult your doctor immediately for a complete evaluation and management.
2. Get your blood sugar levels checked.
3. Avoid smoking, if any.
