Posted on Thu, 15 May 2014
Question: I am 65 and just found out today that I have Osteoporosis. I do not have a score to share, if there is such a thing. Apparently, the worst part in in my right hip. I have been reading on-line about each of the possible drugs to take. My doctor mentioned Boniva, but after looking it up, it does not help with hip degeneration. I need to know, other than my doctor, where to go for more advice. Thank you. My name is XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Osteoporosis is curable

Detailed Answer:
Hello Madam,
I have red your case and I want to tell you that osteoporosis is very common in post menopausal females. It is due to lack of estrogen hormone. I have following recommendation for you.
1.Your doctor has given you Bonvia which prevent bone eating (Ostoclast) cells,so i would suggest you to take it.
2.Take calcium citrate daily. Many medicines have calcium carbonate which get absorbed poorly so prefer calcium citrate.
3. Take Vitamin D also to increase calcium absorption.
4. Take vit D ric diet like milk, egg, fish
5. Vit D XXXXXXX are also available which can be taken once a week with milk.
Your hip degeneration will improve once your bone are filled with calcium. So do not worried about that.
If you want to discuss osteoporosis, best doctor is orthopaedic surgeon. You can consult with them apart from your doctor.
I hope this answer your query. Let me know if you have any other question. Thank and take care.
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
