Suggest Treatment For Mild Depression

Question: Hi Dr: In the last three years I have lost 90 pounds by proper diet and exercise. All of my lab work went from bad to excellent.
In the last month I have gained 15 pounds, have no motivation, and was put on 1mg clonazepam twice daily for anxiety. I am still exercising six days a week but I am eating too much and craving sugar. I am on third day off caffeine hoping that will help my anxiety. Bottom line, I feel like I am self destructing. Any thoughts or suggestions? Also was a heavy drinker and quit cold turkey two years ago. Thx, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Mild Depression it seems

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
Such brief phases of reduced motivation is very common on and offf but that could even be a mild episode of depression. I would suggest that you should go for a cognitive behavioural therapy for improving motivation and restricting your diet. This therapy is taken by either a psychologist or a psychiatrist in which the therapist identifies impaired cognitions (Thoughts) and try to correct them. They are 15-20 min weekly session and there should be around 8-10 sessions to help you with your illness.
If this doesnt work, then we will have to consider certain medicines like bupropion which elevates mood without increasing weight.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
