Suggest Treatment For Lump On Head

default
Posted on Fri, 12 Feb 2016
Question: I had a small hard lump on the top of my head for a couple months and then one day it flared up and became really sore. I was then given antibiotics to bring it back down. The lump is still there but very small and almost feels like fluid now. Not the hard little lump it used to be. My hair around the reason has totally fallen out aswell. What could this be? How can it be treated? Will my hair grow back?

Brief Answer:
Possibility of infection residue still present

Detailed Answer:
Hi Dear

Welcome!

I am Dr V XXXXXXX a Dermatologist. I have examined your details and would be glad to help you.

From the description, it seems that some element of infection is still present. This can be easily confirmed by the presence of swelling/ redness and still better by a culture and sensitivity of the fluid.

In case there is a growth of bacteria, then it should be treated suitably. It can be helped by use of locally applied Mupirocin antibiotic thrice daily starting after the suggested test.

Hair growth is likely to resume after several weeks as infections lead to damage to the follicles and this damage is reversed with recovery.

For hair growth, most probably no medications will be required and only time will facilitate healing in natural manner.

Please make good use of this information.

You can perhaps upload some images of the Lump , that way I'll be able to give you more detailed information regarding.

Best wishes and contact me for any further inquiries.
