Brief Answer:
Ultrasound is necessary.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Thank you for the query.

Can you please attach a photo of it?

Mass or lump in the armpit can be an enlarged lymph node, hair follicle inflammation or benign skin lesion like lipoma or sebaceus cyst.

Lymph node is usually located deep under the fatty tissue. It is hard, rounded and usually painless.
Hair follicle inflammation appears more like a swelling and redness. Pain can be present.
Benign skin lesion is usually located right under the skin.

As the lymph node can be a sign of breast tumor, I suggest you to consult a doctor.
Armpit and breast ultrasound has to be done to rule out the worst possibility.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Ultrasound is necessary.

Detailed Answer:
This does not say much about the nature of the lump. For sure ultrasound is necessary. It is not inflammation related issue.
