Brief Answer:
he need to drink plenty of fluids.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

I read carefully your query.

Since the cause of diarrhea and vomiting seems to be viral infection no specific treatment is needed.
In this case the aim of the treatment is to avoid dehydration due to diarrhea and vomiting. The only effective treatment for dehydration is to replace lost fluids and lost electrolytes.

The amount of fluids he need to take in a day depends on the severity of dehydration.
It is important to know how many days has he been with diarrhea and vomiting, how many times he vomits and go in bathroom in a day?

There are two possibilities :

1)Your husband has mild to moderate dehydration and in this case he might have these symptoms :Dry, sticky mouth , sleepiness or tiredness , thirst, decreased urine output , dry skin , headache , constipation, dizziness or lightheadedness.

Mild and moderate dehydration can be treated in home by drinking plenty of fluids, preferable small amounts very often because drinking too much fluid at once can bring on vomiting.
He can use oral rehydration solutions(O.R.S) that you can buy in pharmacy.
He should drink at least 10 glasses of liquid a day to replace lost fluids.

2)Severe dehydration that need to be treated in hospital because fluids and salts need to be replaced intravenously (IV).
You can suspect severe dehydration if your husband has the above symptoms:
-Extreme thirst
-Dry skin, mouth, and mucous membranes
-Little or no urination for 12 hours or more,Sunken eyes
-Shriveled and dry skin that lacks elasticity and doesn't "bounce back" when pinched into a fold.
-Low blood pressure , rapid heartbeat , rapid breathing.
-Fever

In these case you should take him to hospital as soon as possible.

Hope my answer has helped.Let me know if you have further questions.
Wish your husband quick and complete recovery.
Regards.
