Brief Answer:
Read detail answer bellow.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your has stone in her Ureter and her ultrasound scanning has revealed back pressure changes hydroureteronephrosis.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Does she have severe pain ?
2) Does she have vomiting ?
3) Does she have repeated episodes of pain over a period of last few weeks?

Hydroureteronephrosis suggest that the stone is impacted in the ureter causing back pressure changes in the ureter .In such a situation it is advisable not to wait and expect the stone to pass down naturally as there is risk of damage to kidney .

Please consult qualified Urologist for evaluation and get it removed by Endoscopic Procedure called as Uretero Renoscopy with fragmentation of stone to prevent further damage to the kidney.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,
I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

2) Does she have vomiting ? Ans : No.

Ans: Except the case of 2 days ago she did not have any pain the last few weeks.

I am just trying to understand how long is it safe to wait before opting for a procedure.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for feed back.
It is difficult to predict when the stone will come down. You can certainly wait for 2 more weeks and repeat ultrasound scanning after two weeks and if the stone is at the same level and has not come down it is advisable to get procedure done .

Please note that during this expectant period if she gets severe pain .vomiting, fever do consult Urologist for immediate intervention.

Thanks and Regards.
