Question: I suffered from ketoacidosis 4 days ago I didn't go to the hospital. I treated it at home with lots of water and Gatorade. The ketones came back to normal level after the 2nd day. I have had uncontrolled diabetes for 17 years. After the ketoacidosis I am left with tingling or maybe considered pain. Could this be after effects from the ketoacidosis or something else. I had blood pressure done a week ago and dr. said it was excellent.

Brief Answer:
Need hospital care/ evaluation in hospital

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Thank you for posting a question here. Diabetes related ketoacidosis is a severe condition and has to be treated in hospital if moderate or severe. Many people with uncontrolled diabetes have ketosis ( positive urine ketones) but no acidosis. Ketosis and ketoacidosis are two different things. Ketoacidosis is usually diagnosed after doing a blood gas analysis.

Comimg o your question, uncontrolled diiabetes can cause neuropathy and related pain. Ketosis and ketoacidosis can worsen the neuropathy. An associated infection or inflammation also need to be ruled out. Electrolyte abnormalities and dehydration associated with ketosis can also exacerbate an existing neuropathy. You may need some blood and urine tests beyong the sugar tests you are dong at home. I would strongly recommend meeting your doctor or an ER doctor to be on the safer side.
regards
Binu

I believe I was infected with salmonella via a chicken salad sandwich on Thursday about 11am - and by 10pm I was experiencing explosive watery diarrhea and extreme chills with abdominal pain, wretching nonproductive vomiting (post Gastric Bypass 7yrs)....this continued until I had not urinated for 16 hours and had lost 14 pounds on the scale in 36 hours and was tachycardic 130bpm with a low bp 90/62...I went to ER, received 3 liters saline and urinated 50 cc, was sent home...I am now experiencing constant sweats with diarrhea slowing to every 3 hours. WBC , eisinophils below normal at er lab, other indicators of dehydration as expected...the sweats are a change - is this normal and what is the cause? or mechanism that is occuring in this infectious process?

I had a complete hysterectomy by Davinci Robot on 8/25. I left the hospital on 8/26. I was back in the hospital on 10/01 with severe dehydration after diarrhea and vomiting. I was told I had an ileus . I was released on 10/06 and today 10/10 I am starting with diarrhea again. I do not have the nausea that I had before I was admitted to the hospital on 10/01. Could this diarrhea just be my body getting used to eating again? I was NPO for 4 days while in the hospital.

Yes...my friend has been waking with profuse sweating and vomiting in the middle of the night just out of the blue. Only medical condition at age 58 is high blood pressure , no complaint of pain. Possibly may have passed out this last time it happened. I thought possibly she is dehydrated or/and maybe a stomach lesion or pyloric Sphinger lesion , something digestive should be ckecked out. Or electrolyte imbalance can u suggest? Help?????
