Suggest Treatment For Itching Sensation On Skin At Night

default
Posted on Wed, 17 Jun 2015
Question: I have a skin condition on my ankles as seen in the attached image, with me for about two months. I changed my shower soap already with no affect. Have to put body lotion on at night to prevent itching. Put Neosporin on it and also for a couple of days, hydrocortisone also. It has not grown in size but it is on both the inside and outside of both ankles on both legs. I wear shorts so it is not due to material contact on the skin. Appears that they are hemispherical lines about 1/4" in diameter. I have detected no movement. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Its infection that needs broad spectrum cover

Detailed Answer:
Welcome, my dear XXXX!

Thanks for consulting me at virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.
I have seen your very short question. I scrolled for previous question asked by you and found that you have got gastroenteritis.
I am thankful to you for giving me a detailed history, and I appreciate you efforts for attaching the Pictures for easy diagnosis and treatment.

I usually recommend to my clinic patients, a combination of three creams to apply on.

1.Triple Antibiotic Ointment (OTC) apply 3 times a day for 2 weeks.
2.Lotrisone(Clotrimazole,betamethasone) Apply on the area 2 times a day for 2 weeks.
3.Itch-X Gel Apply 3-4 times a day for 7 days.

Please dont scratch the area. Don't leave it dry. You were doing well by applying lotion on it to avoid dryness, but Mr. XXXXX, now topical creams should replace your body lotion.

It will all vanish with a treatment of two weeks.

Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards!

Will comply with the treatment as it is logical however I read up on gastroenteritis which is what you stated I have and it is a stomach flu, viral or bacterial and I do not have any of those symptoms? My feeling is that it is an infection due to an insect bite or other. I have no fever, feel fine and am very healthy. Personally I think it looks like an insect laid eggs inside my skin, of course my immune system is fighting it so it itches. Well I think I found the answer. My grandfather had psoriasis and it is genetic. The redness, and itching skin on my ankles is pustular psoriasis. I understand it is due to overactive skin replacement due to my immune system where the new skin cells builds up and rise to the surface before they are needed as replacement cells. This shows up as a pussy red flaking excess skin. I will apply the treatment you suggest as I understand we do not know what causes this to occur. It is a chronic condition and will come and go. This is the first time I have shown the symptoms. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Its not pustular Psoriasis. Please dont worry and start treatment

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back Mr. XXXX!

I want to make you relax that its not Psoriasis, Which has more severe and very different presentation. Please don't worry much on what it is. I appreciate your cooperation and understanding that you agreed to start a treatment. Some medications need prescription from a local physician e.g Lotrisone.

I hope you get very well soon. Skin conditions need proper time and treatment to get cured. So be compliant and do your best for results.
If you feel extra itching, don't scratch. you may take OTC Claritin twice daily for itching thats unbearable.

Detailed Answer:
I welcome you back Mr. XXXX!

I am very happy to hear from you that you followed my suggestions. Yes claritin is worth taking OTC right now. And for other prescription medications you will need to visit your local doctor for a script.

Hope it helped you today. I wish you best of the time ahead.
