Brief Answer:
Treatment options for psoriasis

Detailed Answer:
Hello. thank you for writing to us.

I am Dr. kakkar(Dermatologist and Venereologist). I have gone through our query and I have noted your concern.
Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease which presents as well defined, bright red plaques with silvery scales.

The disease may vary in its severity with either just a few localized plaques to widespread skin involvement with stable plaque psoriasis and certain unstable forms of the disease like erythrodermic psoriasis and pustular psoriasis.

Treatment options vary according to the extent of skin involvement and consist of either topical alone (if <20% body surface area (BSA) is involved) Or both topical and systemic (if > 20% of BSA is involved or erythrodermic and pustular psoriasis).

Topical treatment options that are commonly utilized include-
Topical superpotent steroids (with or without salicylic acid) e.g either clobetasol propionate 0.05% or halobetasol propionate 0.05%.
Topical Vit D analogues like either calcipotriol or calcipotriene (with or without topical superpotent steroids).
Coal tar (with or without salicylic acid).

Systemic treatment options that are greatly effective for widespread body involvement (usually in combination with topical treatment options) include -
-Phototherapy (psoralen and UV A - PUVA Therapy
Or Narrow band UV B phototherapy).
-Immunosuppressives like Methotrexate and Cyclosporin.
-Oral Retinoids like Acitretin, Etretinate.
-Biologics like Infliximab, Etanercept (Enbrel), Adalimumab (Humira), Secukinumab (Cosentyx) etc.

The choice of treatment options varies depending not only on the extent of BSA involvement but also on the experience of the treating doctor, availability,, feasibility and affordability. I suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your region for more details about these various treatment options and the most suitable ones for you. However, unfortunately I don't have any specific reference of a dermatologist in XXXXXXX CA

Brief Answer:
Regarding psoriasis

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I wish I could and I would have been very happy to do that. However, since i am not licensed to practice in US so I don't think my prescription would be honored there. What you can do is that you can try if can find a moderately potent topical steroid cream OTC e.g either mometasone furoate 0.1%or triamcinolone acetonide0.1%cream or betamethasone valerate 0.1%cream. Use either of them twice daily till you are able to get an appointment with a dermatologist.
