Question: I have a sty on the inside of my eyelid- my eye was swollen and I went to the ER- they told me to do warm compresses and gave me erythromycin ointment - one application 4x a day. but did not say how long to do it? My eye is less swollen- 2 days later, but when I apply the ointment it stings. Should I discontinue the use and just use hot compresses

Brief Answer:
Antii inflammatory needed

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
thanks for sending your query to us.
Since it is a regressive stage you can continue with hot compress only and if there is pain oral pain killers or anti inflammatory tablets can be taken. We as a rule start with antibiotics orally as well but they do not have a role now .You will need erythromycin ointment if the lids are stuck up in the morning then ointment can be applied at bed time, otherwise continue with hot compresses.
Do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard
