Question: My son is 2 years 1 month old and he is suffering from vomiting and loose motions on & off since saturday. We initially thought it is because of eating mangoes. We stopped mangoes and then felt like loose motions were reducing but again they have increased. He is completely drained and not willing to eat. He wants to drink milk but as it is not suggested to give milk, i am giving it occasionally only. Please suggest me what can be done.

Brief Answer:
Maintain hydration.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

he is having gastroenteritis, it is probably due to frequent weather changes, summer or change in water or eating something from outside. As long as your child is active and feeding well, don't worry.

I would advice you to feed him anything he likes to eat or drink(home made). You can give him milk if he is taking it because maintaining hydration is the most important thing. Give him lots of curds and buttermilk, tender coconut water. include fluids, soups, dal etc.

You can give him enterogermina respules twice daily for 2 to 3 days. In case he has fever or symptoms persists it is best to start on antibiotics. Otherwise symptomatic treatment is sufficient.

I hope this answered your query.
