Posted on Mon, 11 May 2015
Question: I am having indigestion problem from last few days. It takes about 8-10 hours to digest the meal. I still feel that today's bfast is yet not digested in the body.

In addition to that feels a bit lazy throughout the day and finds problem in getting up in the morning. Getting up in the morning becomes easy if I take a calcirol XXXXXXX in the night.

Do you think digestion problem and the other part of the problem is corelated and any suggestions?

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Seems like an infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for your query.

While reading your query first thing that cam to my mind was pancreas problem. Do you take alcohol? Anyways I would suggest that you get liver function test and serum amylase levels. It will rule out such a problem. Taking enzymes like in kezyme syrup etc is helpful in digesting the food.

Another issue can be a low motility of stomach or intestines. This may be seen in neuropathies due to low B 12, pyridoxine, thiamine, VIT d, calcium levels (all vitamins). It may also be seen in long standing untreated diabetes.

Another cause can be an infection like typhoid. A typhidot test can be done for it. Typhoid may also cause drowsiness. It may also be accompanied by fever, abdominal pain, loose motions. Do you have any other symptoms?

Thus a more detailed evaluation is needed to find the cause.

Thank you doctor for your response.

I take alcohol but its not very frequent. Is there a short term solution to have a better digestion while I get all other tests done and share the complete report.

Brief Answer:
Refrain from alcohol intake

Detailed Answer:
Sometimes people are more prone to developing such issues with even small amount of alcohol. So refrain from alcohol.

In the meanwhile you can take digestive enzymes like lupizyme syrup or kezyme syrup 1 tbsp two times a day. Can also take digestive aid (ayurvedic) like ajamoda arka 6-7 drops in one glass water everyday.
