Question: Hello,I am 52, I take daily 50mg of Atenolol and 5mg of Felodopine for high blood pressure, I want to find something to help with my hot flashes as I was told that I won't be able to have HRT due to having a blood clot in my left leg when I was around 28 years of age. I have bought 1000mg Evening Primrose & Starflower Oil capsules (combined in one capsule ), but am worried incase they will cause a drug interaction and want to check before I start to take them.

Brief Answer:
You can take it.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us about it.

I can understand your concern about it.

Primrose oil and starflower oil are herbal supplement and can be practiced along with atenolol and amlodipine.

As such there is no interaction between these drugs and some study shows that it is useful in decreasing blood pressure.

In my opinion before initiating any medication or supplement it is better to consult your treating physician about it.

Hope I have answered your query if you have further questions I will be happy to assist you.

Good luck.
Regards
Dr.Richa
