Suggest Treatment For High Fever In A Child

Question: My Daughter is 17 Months old and suddenly one fine day morning started with a high fever around 103 to 104.Took her to a hospital and gave medicines for 3 days . Fever came down by 2nd day. Want to understand the reasons of developing a high fever suddenly without any symptoms where my baby active.

Hi... by what you say I feel that this looks like a viral illness. I will explain you how a viral illness behaves so that you will feel more relieved and confident next time the baby gets fever..... hopefully the baby doesn't get fever.

Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
