Suggest Treatment For Hematoma On The Toe

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Dec 2016
Question: I just started a job where I'm on my feet all day -- something I haven't done in a decade. On the first day my big toe felt bruised and swollen. On the second day it was swollen, numb but painful when hit. The toe has turned blue, too. The nail is rised and appears as though it may want to fall off.

A few days later and on the other foot that big toe has also turned blue along with the middle toe. I suppose it could just be my shoes although I've never experienced this with any other shoe in the past or with these shoes prior.

Also, I have a history of strokes with no known cause. Additionally, I wrote in over a month ago because I was feeling a cold/numbing sensation up my right leg. Possibly a pinched nerve?

Although I've been trying for months because I just relocated back to the USA -- I was only approved for a medical plan today. As soon as I receive the information I'll get a check up.

Brief Answer:
Can be a vascular compromise.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The change in color of the toe suggests a hematoma formation due to injury or a vascular compromise/ decreased blood circulation. It can happen due to an infection in the area also. It is best to get the area examined as soon as possible so that proper treatment can be started. Till then give some rest to your feet and avoid standing for long hours. Doing a hot compress in the area can also help.
I hope this answers your query.
