Suggest Treatment For Heartburn And Elevated Acid In Stomach

default
Posted on Wed, 31 Dec 2014
Question: I have noticed that my stool is pale yellow and at times whitish. I understand that the pale color stool can be a sign of serious diseases and some are even fatal.
Additionally, after taking medication 3 months ago for elevated acid in my stomach, I have a heartburn again.
I will be calling my Gastroenterologist for an appointment on Monday and hopefully he will help me but in the mean time, will you please advise?

Brief Answer:
Please, be calm about this!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about the change in this tool color and all the disturbing thoughts that this has caused you. Please, pale yellow stools in no way represent danger unless there are other symptoms which suggest so. You have not reported any and I think there is no reason for you to have heightened concerns. For now, simply monitor the stools for any changes and reported. Have you ever had a screening colonoscopy?

Heartburns can occur all the times. What should be of concern is the intensity and how often it does. If this is a one time occurrence, factors like no food intake, stress, spicy food, etc may be responsible for this. Has it been ongoing for a while or this is a one time observation after treatment 3months ago?

In al, you should not get concerned at this time about yellow colored stools. This is a majority if cases is entirely normal. If the stomach pain is not to severe, then your doctor would figure this out. If it is, I suggest you take omeprazole for relief.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
