Suggest Treatment For Gastritis

Posted on Fri, 7 Aug 2015
Question: I recently had an Endoscopy that revealed Gastritis. When I started Nexium twice a day plus Zantac at bedtime , change in diet and eating habits , my symptoms immediately started improving. A CT Scan of my Pancreas was ordered prior to knowing the results of the Endoscopy. Do I still need this scan?

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

It's a great thing that your symptoms were improved after treatment and this is a sign that they more probably were related to gastritis.

If you were my patient and the things will continue to go this way I would like to recommend to do an abdominal ultrasound. This examination will exclude any gallbladder / pancreatic problems and will avoid unnecessary radiation exposure (also it will reduce your coast).

Only if the ultrasound will find something abnormal you should do the ct.

Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!

Thank you Dr Klerida, an abdominal ultrasound was performed and the gallbladder looked normal and had no stones. Also some blood work was done to check pancreas, but I haven't been notified of the results. Also the biopsy results aren't in yet to determine if the Gastritis is caused by H.Pylori, etc. The problem is always in trying to reach my DR to discuss things and still have 24hrs to cancel any scheduled tests. Plus the PA ordered all the tests , but the DR performed the Endoscopy much sooner than expected, and I don't think they had time to compare notes. Thank you so much for the prompt response

Brief Answer:
Can you upload your data so i will check them for you?

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for providing more of your medical data.

1.You are reporting that you have done abdominal ultrasound, please can you upload it to me so I can check it by myself in order to exclude any abnormalities.

2. If your doctor has ordered Ct scan after he has checked the abdominal ultrasound results, than you should do Ct scan in order to be 100% sure that everything is ok.

Since you can't reach out your doctor, can you upload all your medical data so i can check them for you?

I'm waiting for the new data to be uploaded.
