Suggest Treatment For Freckles From Calves To Ankles
Question: My family is in Hawaii...my 18 year old son is sitting on the balcony, in good daylight, and I notice he has what appear to be freckles on his ankles, going from just below the calf down to the ankle area...I asked how long he has had them....he said about two years....he is seeing a dermatologist for acne...he has been on a few different internal medications for acne...for about two years as well...I have seen various possible causes of the "ankle freckles"...and they look like a red-head's back or cheeks...I see three main explanations...capillary bleeding....reaction to a medication...and lack of vitamin C...I can't send a pic...but it looks like a fair skinned, red headed arm, or leg, and he is not read headed...he DOES have a varicos vein (sp) that will be removed in two weeks...
Brief Answer:
Varicose vein is the cause
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Freckling around ankle is associated with varicose veins.
It is called as stasis dermatitis.
Red blood cells escape out of capillaries and cause staining of skin.
Once varicose veins are treated freckles will subside.
A photograph would have helped me in giving a closer diagnosis.
Let me know if you have any other doubt.
Thank you.
