Suggest Treatment For Floaters And Light Flashes In The Eye

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Apr 2015
Question: Dr. Dadapeer, I wrote you a few weeks ago about a floater I had and my ophthalmologist had me back and looked at it again. He told me to come back in if I had other floaters since that might indicate a Detached Retina. At that time the floater was large, black, distinctly outlined, and shaped like a "O" or a "C". Now although I could not swear to it I think I still have the same floater but it is lighter colored, smaller, and less distinct but in all reality it could be that the first floater disappeared and this could be a new one. Should I wait and see or recontact my doctor?

Brief Answer:
You can wait now.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history and the previous questions you had asked.

You can wait now and I feel there is no need to consult your treating doctor.
You need to consult your doctor if you are having sudden increase in floaters with flashes of light.
No need to be worried as most of the times floaters are usually because of degeneration of the vitreous and does not require treatment. Only when they are associated with flashes or if there is sudden increase in number we should rule out retinal problems.

Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
