Question: Hi,
We have a 13.5 months old baby girl and she is having fever (101) since yesterday afternoon.
Prior to this, she does have cold (blowing nose at times) for around a week time but caught up with fever on 30th Dec afternoon.
Can you please advise on the medication/precautions which should be taken?
Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Consult with a pediatrician

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for posting your query,

I have read through your query and can certainly understand your concern,

From the description that you have provided, it seems that your daughter is having symptoms pertaining to upper respiratory tract infection. The presence of fever shows that there is an infective source.

I would suggest it best for you to consult with a pediatrician in your area, for a proper physical examination and further management, as only on auscultation would it be able to find if there is any wheeze or creps.

Also she does require a course of antibiotics which is apt for her age and will not cause any harm like azithromycin, which will be prescribed by your treating doctor. The medications she is already on- Wikoryl, is a decongestant, which as you said will help in dealing with running nose and ibugesic- for fever.

Meanwhile, she also does require nebulization twice a day.

Hope this helps

Please feel free to discuss further.
