Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Glands In Neck

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Oct 2014
Question: Hi,

Im concerned my glands in my neck. They seem enlarged, i cant see them but i can feel them quite easily when feel under my jaw and i dont think they have always been like that. Is it normal for people to be able to feel there glands in the neck even if they arent swollen?

I also think i have had a mild case of oral thrush for most of this year. It doesnt cause a bad taste in my mouth or bleed when i scrape my tongue with my toothbrush but the back area of my tongue looks discoloured most of the time, as in if i scrape it clean in the morning will have a white coating again by the evening.

Do u think these two things are linked and if so what could be the cause?

thanks

Brief Answer:
ENT consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

I see similar cases amongst young people who visit my clinic.

Under jaw lymph nodes are sub mandibular lymph nodes, occurs secondary to inflammations of gums, cheek and tongue.

Candidiasis or oral thrush also can cause lymph node enlargement under jaw bone.

I suggest you to consult ENT surgeon and get detailed ENT examination to rule out extension of candidiasis. If necessary fine needle aspiration cytology of that lymph node to rule out the causes.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
