Question: I am writing for my boyfriend, a seemingly healthy 67-year-old who, about a half hour after eating dinner tonight, started having severe pains in his stomach. We both ate the same thing (broccoli cheddar soup and garlic cheddar biscuits) and I am having no problems. He feels gassy but isn't able to pass gas, feels like he might throw up but can't do that. It came on gradually and, after about a half hour, he feels it might be subsiding a bit and yet he sugested I contact someone at . He feels clammy but has no fever. I have diverticulosis so am familiar with that and see some similarities. Should he go to the emergency room? He wants to wait and see if it will pass.

Brief Answer:
Go to the ER

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This is Dr Sameer.
Welcome
Symptoms you are telling can be simple Acute gastritis or could be a intestinal obstruction. Both can cause problems if medical attention is not sought at proper time.
So I'll recommend you to go to the emergency room soon.
Thanks
