Suggest Treatment For Bloating And Discomfort In Stomach

I have had an endoscopy done recently and have acute gastritis. I am on Dexilant (60mg) and Sucralafate 2 tabs a day. I have been on it for almost a month. I do not have the burning anymore, but still feel very bloated and uncomfortable. Te only thing my stomach can take now is oatmeal, chicken noodle soup and crackers. I am a diabetic and eat my snacks of glucerna shakes and whole wheat tortilla roll ups with turkey. Ia m so tired of the bloating. I will be getting a fructose, lactose and bacteria overgrowth test.

Hi,

Noted your history and understood your concerns.
It is good that gastritis has been settled well with Dexilant and Sucrafate.
The Bloating is usually due to gases in intestinal tract and can be due to the following reasons:
Aerophagia if you have stress and anxiety.
Gas producing bacterial overgrowth as you have well mentioned.
Get the stool tests for three consecutive days and if there is any evidence of an intestinal infection then a course of an antibiotic active against intestinal infection, metronidazole and probiotics should help you.
Also get an ultrasonography of abdomen and if there are any gall stones you may need a surgery.
Also watch for which of the restricted foods and beverages is giving gases as seen with nuts and so on.
Avoid stress and/or anxiety.
Diabetes needs to be well under control.

Take care.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
