Suggest Treatment For Discomfort From A Cat Allergy

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Jul 2015
Question: Hello, I was experiencing some discomfort from a cat allergy, and needed to have a full night's sleep, so I took 2 regular strength Tylenol before bed, and 2 more 5 hours later. I feel very drowsy, and weaker. Is this normal?

Another question I have, is because of the cat allergy, and even a rosebush allergy, what over the counter medication should I be taking to help me sleep, and what dosage?

Brief Answer:
No this is not normal.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Tylenol is having acetaminophen. It is painkiller. It is not having any side effect of drowsiness.
So it is not normal to have drowsiness after Tylenol.
And for allergy you can take combination of antihistamine and anti allergic drugs. It is easily available in market.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.

I was able to walk to run an errand this morning (without it being too hot out yet). I definitely felt drowsy and weaker with shallow breathing there for a bit though. I think it is from allergies, the Frutcasone nasal spray and Proair inhaler I just stopped taking two days ago, and the Claritin I stopped taking yesterday, and took Tylenol before bed instead. What do you think, and do you think it would be o.k. to be out in the heat walking to go on errands, etc. I wouldn't want to faint or anything, do you think I would?

Brief Answer:
No you should not do this.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion, you should not go outside.
You are mostly having acute allergic attack. So better to start your nasal spray and inhaler. Your symptoms are mostly due to stopping of these drugs.
Restart all these drugs. And consult doctor, get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to know the severity of the disease.
You may need additional inhaled bronchodilators also.
Hope I have solved your query.
