Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Ribs

default
Posted on Thu, 8 Jun 2017
Question: I have terrible pain in my ribs since a fall several months ago. It is affecting my lungs and breathing. A neighbor has an infection that sounds like Impamema and swears I have all the symptoms. What can you tell me about this. I've been going to my doctor and chiropractor since the onset and it's not getting better. The doctor has me on oxygen at night because the pain has me shallow breathing. Help, I'm about at my limits ends with this. Is there a test ti determine if this is what I have.
Thank you,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Can be due to soft tissue injury.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

A persistent chest pain after an injury can be due to unhealed soft tissue injury (due to inadequate rest) or an infection. This can be ruled out after an MRI scan of the chest. MRI scan can detect a bruised rib or any minor fracture or any lung parenchymatous change well.

Those other symptoms that you have mentioned can be due to anxiety too. You can consult an Orthopedician or a specialist i.e. Chest physician for a thorough clinical examination and proper investigations along with prescription medicines.

I hope this answers your query.
