Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Conceiving After Surgery For Ectopic Pregnancy

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Sep 2014
Question: I have been pregnant 5 times. 1 abortion 3 early live births due to preterm labor and 1 rescent ectopic pregnancy which ruptured at which my right tube was removed. With this what can I expect my future fertility to be like? My husband and I have been trying to conceive since last September. How will this affect my fertility? With the ectopic pregnancy I took home pregnancy test every month which came back negative it wasn't until I was at the hospital that they tested and it came back positive. Then a cyst was also found on my right ovary as well. I attached the pictures that were taken during surgery.

Brief Answer:
Fertility chances reduced with tube removal

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I read your query and I understand your concerns. Your query as far as I could understand is about difficulty in conceiving after surgery for ectopic pregnancy.

Ectopic pregnancy surgery is generally accompanied with removal of one tube which has been done. Hence chance of getting pregnancy are reduced by 50 percent. I would perform regular follicular growth scan done to confirm egg release ( ovulation ) from healthy side and not from the ectopic side. This will help us understand about your fertility and whether or not you need assistance. I am sure your doctor will know about follicular growth scans. You can discuss about it with him/her.

Let me know if you have anymore queries.
