Brief Answer:
possible hemorrhoids

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.
I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

What you are describing may be a swollen and inflammed hemorrhoid. You will need to do a rectal and anal exam which will make clear if you have it so you can take the proper treatment.

Meanwhile you decide to go to the doctor, warm sit baths 2 times/day may help it to go down in size.

Your diet its very important so you can avoid constipation because it is generally the trigger.

If you have done the visit and you know for sure that you have no hemorrhoids in anus and rectum, next exam to consider is a colonoscopy so they can look closely what is the cause of bleeding in deeper levels of the bowel.

Hope this is helpful.

I have not had a problem with constipation and have no pain during bowel movements. does that still indicate a hemorrhoid

Brief Answer:
The doctor will need to find where is the blood leaking from

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for the follow-up question.

The most possible diagnoses is a hemorrhoid anyway. You are right when you say that since you have had no pain and no problems with constipation it may not be a hemorrhoid but bright blood tells us that a vein has been ruptured in the far distant part of the bowel.

The blood has been leaking from somewhere and unless what you saw was not blood, you have to find out where the blood did come from. So a physical exam will rule out for sure what is the cause.
