Brief Answer:
The depressive symptoms would not last permanent.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Welcome to HCM and thanks for asking a question

I can understand your problem. Please don't feel bad about your rough times. Depressive disorders are mood disorders that run in episodes. During an episode individuals may feel down, become severely depressed, have poor interactions with family and friends, have bad thoughts etc symptoms but fortunately these symptoms respond to medicines and also with time individuals see progressive improvement.

Try to acknowledge the fact that these symptoms are not permanent. With proper treatment these symptoms will reduce. Please be assured that the rough time would not last longer. Try to avoid feelings of death. Appreciate the positive aspects of your life. Try to relive the positive time you had in life and try to regain that time again.

These symptoms need proper evaluation by a Psychiatrist. These symptoms would reduce to medicines like antidepressants as Sertraline, Escitalopram etc. Try to relax yourself. Listen good music and this will help in improvement of mood.

Thanks, please don't hesitate to contact again if you want to ask more or if you want to talk.

Brief Answer:
Keep yourself relaxed, depression is not permanent.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

In depression treatment usually go in long course. If individual continues to take treatment then improvement in symptoms occurs. The persistent thoughts about dying or death need urgent attention because you are in high risk. Attempts of overdosing make you vulnerable for suicide. You have shown courage to take consultation and this also proves that you want to come out of that bad phase and have good motivation. Please consider consulting your doctor again and if you are not taking any treatment then start with anti-depressants again.

Just keep one thing in mind, you have to win the fight against depression. Depression runs episodic course and most of individuals with depression lead normal life. Don't feel stigmatised and try to engage yourself in some good constructive activities. If there are no friends or carers even then try to find new people. Try to engage yourself in exercise or listening music. This would make you a little better.

Few things I would like to ask-

- Are you presently working somewhere or remain alone at home?

- Are you presently taking any medicines? or have stopped the treatment?

- Any significant stress in life if any?

Thanks, Please provide the details in follow up so that we can discuss in detail about management.

Brief Answer:
Please start taking your medicines regularly.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

See if we look upon psychopathological processes involved in depression this involves many complex processes. Some times loneliness potentiates depression and depression further results in worsening of social skills which lead to depression. Ultimately a vicious cycle of Depression-Lonliness-Depression get formed which leads to poor functioning and impairment. So to come out of that bad phase of depression and loneliness you have to move out of that loneliness. Try to find ways to kill your loneliness which would result in improvement of symptoms of depression. As you have mentioned that you have disability and you cant move out, in such case spend your time on internet or in playing computer games. In playing brain stimulation games like chess, crossword or sudoku. This will help you in building motivation again.

Also one more thing you should keep in mind that medicines of depression should be taken regularly because a therapeutic level is must for proper effects of antidepressants. So please start to take your medicines regularly because this would result in early improvement. Taking medicines irregularly would not result in anything good and this would infect increase the risk of resistance. So please start taking medicines daily.

You are right in stress because this would make your symptoms worse. Try to care her and kill your symptoms. She would come out of hospital in healthy condition. Please don't loose hope, hopelessness also increase depression.

Thanks. I hope this helps you. Take care. If you have more questions or need more advise please ask again.
