Dear XXXX,

Thanks for your query.

Regarding the symptoms as mentioned in your post, kindly let us know about the following:
1. Since how many days are you experiencing these symptoms?
2. Any diurnal variation? i.e. symptoms are more during any particular time of the day?
3. What medicines are you taking and since how many days?
4. Have you consulted any Doctor or started medications on your own?
5. Any tests/ laboratory investigations carried out? If yes, then please attach the concerned reports along with your post.
6. Any past history or family history of Asthma, Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Hypertension, Diabetes, Thyroid disorder, etc?
7. History of exposure to any chemical or smoke at home or working place?
8. Habit of smoking or alcohol consumption?
9. Any other associated symptoms?

A knowledge of the above mentioned facts will be helpful to make a better diagnosis and formulate an appropriate management plan.

Till then, symptomatic relief can be obtained with:
1. Steam inhalation.
2. Decongestant nasal drops (like Xylometazoline).
3. Antihistamine preparations like Cetrizine or Allegra.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.

Brief Answer:
Tempory relief from medicines; underlying cause needs to be ascertained

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Thanks for your follow up query and detailed history.

A. The medications i.e. Cheston (analgesic + antihistamine preparation) & Nasivion (pharmacologically Oxymetazoline) will only provide temporary relief from symptoms, as mentioned in my previous answer.
However, dosage of a medication is important for relief.
Considering that you are having the symptoms since 4 days and you have taken only 2 doses of medications, immediate relief cannot be expected.
If I were your treating Doctor, I would have suggested you the following:
1. Tablet Levocetrizine 5 mg to be taken twice a day OR Tablet Cheston to be taken twice a day (can be taken upto thrice a day)
2. Tablet Montelukast 10 mg to be taken at night
3. Nasivion nasal drop to be administered thrice a day
4. Continue steam inhalation.

B. The underlying cause for the symptoms need to be examined such as presence of DNS (Deviated Nasal Septum), hypertrophy of nasal turbinates, etc.
This needs to be ascertained with a complete clinical examination of the nose & upper respiratory tract.
Kindly consult your Doctor/ ENT Specialist for the same.

C. In addition, you need to maintain adequate hydration & nutrition status and avoid exposure to cold, dust & other allergens.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
