Brief Answer:
allergic rhinitis, needs evaluation

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having productive cough with wheeze. I would like to ask you few more details.

Is there any sequence of sneezes or running nose ?
Is your cough associated with breathlessness ?

Kindly get back to me with the details.

Here my possibility and further management:

As per your clinical details, it appears to be allergic rhinitis causing lung involvement.

Allergic rhinitis (sequence of sneezes, running nose, nasal blockage) can induce sinus secretions drips back to throat, reaching lungs to cause cough and wheeze.

I suggest you to to consult ent surgeon and get detailed Ent examination (allergic rhinitis causing sinusitis ), blood tests- absolute eosinophilic count, IgE. If necessary X-ay chest (to know lung status for infection or allergic bronchitis). Depending on the examination findings, further treatment can be started.

Get back to me with details and if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.

Is there any sequence of sneezes or running nose ?

I get sneezing and running nose most of the time when i wash face with cold water in the morning and it stays for few hours.

Is your cough associated with breathlessness ?

Yes when i get serious cough i feel breathlesness, i was asked to take betnesol for the wheezing problem and i took it for almost a year and faced serious weight gain problem, i almost gained 30 kgs of weight in this period and still struggling to lose it, since last 5 months i have stopped taking it,

Brief Answer:
requires ent examination/blood tests/ xrays chest

Detailed Answer:

Hello again,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

Symptoms, you have mentioned are suggestive of allergic rhinitis. Betnasol is a steroid, in prolonged consumption, can cause weight gain and other complications.

Presently, you require anti allergic medications like montelukast (prophylactic drug for allergic rhinitis or asthma) with nasal sprays for 3-5 months.

First confirm allergic rhinitis by visiting ENT surgeon and by doing the investigations, what I have already mentioned.

Kindly go ahead.

Hope, I have answered your query.

Take care.

Brief Answer:
needs medical prescription

Detailed Answer:

Hello again,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

You need to take this medication under medical supervision (dosage and strength can be decided by your treating doctor after confirming the allergic rhinitis).

As such, this medication can cause sedation, insomnia and constipation but not weight gain or serious complications like betnosal.

This is a prophylactic medication, you may not require to use inhalers.

All the best.

tab.citrizine

Detailed Answer:

Hello again,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

You can continue same inhaler and anti allergic medication like tab.citrizine 10mg at bed time (allergic cough comes down for some extent), till you get evaluated by an ENT surgeon.

All the best.
