Suggest Treatment For Corneal Dystrophy

Posted on Mon, 22 Jun 2015
Question: I am a 61-yr. old female. I was just diagnosed with corneal dystrophy during an eye exam. How frequently should the test be done to see that it is progressing slowly? I have an ointment - Muro 128 5% - to use nightly. Additionally, I am being watched for glaucoma in one eye. Is an annual exam the right amount of time to check for that? Because of my job, I miss some nights using the ointment, is that critical?

Brief Answer:
Annual examination is fine.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history.
Muro eye ointment is for treating the corneal edema and should be used till the edema resolves. If this is used irregularly it may not help much. Hence you need to use it regularly as prescribed till the edema decreases.

Corneal dystrophies usually progress slowly and hence examination once in a year should be fine.
Please provide me more details like name of corneal dystrophy and visual acuity and other details so that I can advice you more accurately.

Hope this answers your question.
