What Does Swelling On The Temporal Area After Face Lift Procedure Indicate?
Question: 9 days postop face lift. big mistake, wasn't given any instructions to my husband and I was out of it. but swelling on temporal area and down is jaw is painful, no discoloration. Is it a hematoma and will it go away. I went to a surgy center and no doctor will see me second opinion. Can i use arnica cream and as well as the pills and what else can I do.

Swelling after surgery could be due to post operative edema.It will come down gradually.I prescribe Tablet containing TRYPSIN ,CHYMOTRYPSIN to my patients with similar complaints for speedy regression.
Next possibilty is HAEMATOMA.It will be diagnosed by clinical examination and Ultrasound .If collection is less,it gets resolved gradually.If the collection is more,it has to be drained.

If the swelling is decreasing in size,there is no need of Trypsin chymotrypsin combination.I don't think it is available OTC. Side effects include Hypersensitive reaction and corneal edema. When there are more benefits than side effects,i prefer this medicine.
You can take simple Anti inflammatory tablet ACECLOFENAC 100mg twice daily after food.

skin looks a little discolored today, had the head wrap to tight I think, very slow improvement. How do I know if skin is compromised? I was told no nsaids due to increasing bleeding,
