Acute Angle Closure Glaucoma. Medical Attention?
Hi my name is Denise, Im a 41 year old female who a week ago found out that I have acute angle closure glaucoma. I had emergency surgery last Thursday and have been on medication for one week. I stopped taking as of yesterday per doctors instructions. For the last couple of days I have been seeing white moon shaped flashes but more today than the last two days, is this normal or should I seek medical attention?

Was the IOP normal after the surgery?
The flashes of light are due to corneal edema due to raised IOP..
You have to continue IOP lowering drugs as per doctor's advice.
Consult your treating doctor for any recently raised IOP and depending on the necessity you have to continue IOP lowering drugs for prolonged periods..
The corneal edema will take time to resolve..SO even if IOP is normal the flashes of light can be because of that...

As from the history you are sufferring from acute angle closure glaucoma for which you have underwent surgery. Acute angle closure glaucoma presents with pain, redness, watering whereas prodromal symptoms are mainly colored halos, on and off eye pain.
If you are experiencing symptoms like flashes of light following glaucoma surgery, I advice you to do consult your doctor for examination of intraocular pressure and thereby indicating the effectiveness of the glaucoma surgery. If the intraocular pressure is not under control then you may need antiglaucoma medications again.
