Question: My dad has constipation. He is feeling the motion being very hard is not coming out. He has been taking Cremaffin for the last 2 days but it has not helped. Any suggestion?

In the past, the doctor had prescribed Duphalac syurp, Bifilac (1-0-1) and Sompraz D 20 (1-1-1). Can we continue that? Thanks for helping.

Brief Answer:
yes you can

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

If cremaffin has not worked for two days then he will need enema to evacuate the hardened stools. Give him enema twice a day for now.

After that for prevention you can give him either cremaffin or dulphalac.

Also changing Sompraz D to one containing levosulpride instead of domperidone will be more helpful in his case. And that can be given just two times a day.

Hope i have been helpful.

Thanks Dr. XXXXXXX I have the following question on this:

What is the dosage you recommend for Levosulpiride? In addition to this, can I also give him Dulphalac?

Giving him enema at home is difficult, can we give him Levosulpiride, Bifilac HP and Dulphalac?

Brief Answer:
yes you can

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Levosulpride is given as 25mg twice a day.

You can give him dulphacal and bifilac in the night along with levosulpride.

Also enema comes in a plastic pouch with a long tube at one end. All you have to do is to cut the tip of that tube in insert in the anal opening as high as possible and squeez the pouch. Thats all that is needed. Rest is upto you.
