Suggest Treatment For Cold And Hoarseness In Throat

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Jul 2015
Question: Hello Doctor ,

I was treated LPR last week and I fully recovered from it . However , this weekend I caught cold and I am taking medicines for it (Allegra-m : once a day after dinner ). I am sometimes late for dinner and I am giving me the same feeling of hoarseness in throat I got in LPR . Should I take velox-D before dinner (till my cold continues or till I am taking allegra-m )to avoid this .?

P.S. : I am not taking any antacid now , I took Velox-D last week for LPR . I am also aware the my routine is bad and I am trying to improve it .

Brief Answer:
Yes, you can continue the anti-reflux medication.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. You can continue the Veloz D.

2. It is best taken in the morning, half an hour before breakfast. You mcan repeat the dose in the evening, if required.

3. LPR may require 8-12 weeks of medication to control.

4. A bland diet, lifestyle changes and eating 2-3 hours before lying down will help.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Thanks for the advice Doc .

I also took Redy Nise 100 mg (sorry if I mis spelled the name) as a painkiller and for throat inflammation . Although I do not have any throat pain as of now , I am not sure if there is any inflammation . Should I also take this as a precaution for sometime or is there something else I can do about throat inflammation (if there is any) apart from taking this pill .?

Brief Answer:
Other anti-inflammatory medication is recommended.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. If you have no pain, you can take a tablet of Disperzyme dissolved in water once or twice a day for 5 days.

2. Disperzyme contains trypsin, bromelain and rutoside which are anti-inflammatory agents.

3. You should take medication under medical supervision.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
