default
Posted on Fri, 1 Aug 2014
Question: Hello, I am very concerned now. I had a cold a which started a week ago (cough with yellow mucus first 3-4 days), then my nose got congested (I have chronic sinusitis) , so I just used musinex, dymista, some herbal teas and it is got better. Now my cough is less frequent and with white sputum. But today I felt that I need to clear my lungs and I cough vigorously several times, I spit on my napkin , the mucus was white, but I saw some traces of blood(?). I t never happened before. I had chest xray this year, it was normal. I am scared as hell. What can it be?

Hi,
Thanks for posting the query on HCM. After going through your query, I would like to comment the following:

1. You seem to be suffering from chronic sinusitis with secondary respiratory infection.

2. You need to consult a pulmonologist / ENT specialist and in all probability will require a course of antibiotic rather than symptomatic management.

3. A 2 week course of antibiotic under guidance of your physician should help treat your current symptoms.

I hope I have answered your query. I will be glad to answer follow up queries if any. Please accept my answer if you have no follow up queries.
